far and away the most important holiday in china is spring festival, also known as the chinese new year. to the chinese people it is as important as christmas to people in the west. the dates for this annual celebration are determined by the lunar calendar rather than the gregorian calendar.

so the timing of the holiday varies from late january to early february. to the ordinary chinese, the festival actually begins on the eve of the lunar new years day and ends on the fifth day of the first month of the lunar calendar. but the 15th of the first month, which normally is called the lantern festival, means the official end of the spring festival in many parts of the country.

我生性好動，是個開朗活潑的孩子。我酷愛體育運動，尤其是球類這一方面的。比如：足球、籃球、羽毛球、乒乓球……也由於開朗活潑的緣故，我很愛笑，一笑起來，那雙小小的眼睛就眯成了一條縫。

今天，蘇老師給我們帶來了一種新鮮水果，叫青橄欖！同學們紛紛猜測：“它一定是又香又甜的水果。”老師神祕地笑了笑。

橄欖的皮呈黃綠色，形狀是紡錘形的，像博物館裏看到的織布的梭子，長長的，兩頭尖。好可愛！

仔細聞一聞，像樹葉的氣味，真不好聞！用手捏捏，果子硬硬的。

可以吃了吧？我小心翼翼地咬了一小口，呀！好苦好苦，好澀好澀，整個口腔就像被什麼東西麻住了一般，難受極了！我不禁皺起了臉，真想吐出來。但是想想：這是老師特意給我們帶來的好東西，不能隨便浪費了！我就強忍着，捨不得吐掉。

老師看着我們，笑了笑，説：“彆着急，慢慢品嚐，你一定會嚐到甜頭的。”有些同學很聽話，勇敢地嚼起來，若無其事地吞下去，還説：“嗯，好吃！”有些同學早就吐掉了，而且哇哇亂叫：“什麼味道啊？太難吃了！”我嚼着嚼着，嘴裏慢慢地回甜了，而且越來越甜，越來越甜。口腔裏感覺那麼清爽，那麼清甜，好舒服啊！看看那核，形狀跟橄欖差不多，但是比橄欖細長一些，也是梭子形的，黃色的，質地像木頭一樣，硬邦邦的。

老師告訴我們：“橄欖的味道，先苦後甜，回味無窮。”啊，這味道太奇怪了，太美妙了！我還想吃……
