like any other english learner, i met a lot of difficulties in learning english.

first, i found it difficult to understand what i read because most english words have more than one meaning. besides, i found it difficult to write in idiomatic english or put chinese into idiomatic english. finally, i couldnt express in english orally because i had no opportunity to communicate with native english speakers. although i often read aloud, this didnt prove to be an effective way to improve my spoken english.

but i didnt lose heart in removing these obstacles. i tackled english vocabulary in two ways. first,i tried to understand and memorize the specific meaning of a word that appears in the context. second, i enlarge my vocabulary by learning the dictionary by heart. to overcome chinese english, i tried to think in english directly. although i still had no opportunity to communicate with native speakers, i improved spoken english by listening to the english broadcast and writing english composition. this expedient turned out to be effective.

我是千千萬萬個男孩中的一個，儘管從跌跌撞撞到現在才12個年頭，打開回憶的大門，回頭看一看，也經歷過大大小小的挫折。最讓我刻骨銘心的，還是我讀一年級時的第一次演講，現在回想起來，還真是別有一番滋味。

我的第一次演講，是在一年級升旗議式上。記得當時我面對全校同學，走上演講席的台階，心裏象壓着一塊大石頭，渾身不自在。拿着演講書，感覺手在發抖，頭腦一片空白。畢竟，這是第一次演講，當我走到話筒面前的時候，這種慌張的感覺更加明顯，當時真想回頭走下台，如果地下有個坑的話，我寧願跳下去。站在台下的班主任老師看得出我很緊張，示意我勇敢點、別緊張，我只好嚥下這口氣，大膽地把整個演講講完。

短短10分鐘不到，時間好象停止了流動，現場只有我的聲音，一種帶哭腔的聲音，周圍一片寂靜。中間幾次停頓，甚至讀錯字，但是畢竟讀完了，而且迎來熱烈的掌聲。我終於鬆了口氣，感覺上午8點鐘的陽光是如此明媚，讓人舒服。班主任老師望着我滿頭大汗，一副狼狽相，向我伸出大拇指，看得出是在鼓勵我。但我注意到當時老師那種詭祕的微笑，分明是在説我：“一個男子漢，幹嘛膽子這麼小”。現在想起來，真丟人。

從此以後，儘管每次演講我仍然緊張，但一次比一次輕鬆。經歷了數次挫折，才感覺在同學面前讀我的演講稿是如此有勝利感，這也許是戰勝困難後，上天給我的回報。

那一次，發生在軍訓的第二天，我們正式開始了軍訓的生活。忘記了是上午還是下午，在那一天，我們去往了“心理訓練場”，在那裏，開始了我們的拓展訓練。

剛剛走到那裏時，班裏面的同學，看到“飛奪瀘定橋”這一個項目，也是很激動，都躍躍欲試了。不過，這個鐵索橋，裏地面的距離，可是有三米了，而在下面，還是不知道有多深的湖水。看上去，就有點恐懼了。就有同學發問“教官，可不可以不參加這個項目?”“不行，每個人必須上。”

看着班裏面的同學一個個的登上那個站台，走上鐵索橋，按照順序，到我了。我內心十分猶豫的上了那個站台，從站台上看下去，我都有點頭暈了，更別説走上前面那似乎看不到盡頭的鐵索橋。在我前面的同學已經踏上了鐵索橋，終於到我了，我走到鐵索橋前。鐵索橋還因為前面的同學的走過，還微微有些抖動，再加上我一直從站台上往下看，那種恐懼，害怕的'情感更多了。怎麼辦?我想走下站台，但是教官剛才也都發話，每個人都要走。

好吧!我咬咬牙，我終於踏上了鐵索橋，一直看着前面走，一步，兩步……好像，也沒有看上去的那麼可怕嘛。我又將視線，轉到了下面，腳底下的湖水，似乎深不見底。我的腳突然有點軟了，但是我畢竟都已經走到中間了，我即使想要走回去，也不行，只能堅持走下去。“呼……”終於，我克服了我內心的困難，走完了鐵索橋，我還是戰勝了鐵索橋，站勝了困難。
